Confirmed. This deal was made to help North Bay fill out his roster with good young players, and get under the cap. Del Zotto is an franchise defenseman and only 25. Foligno, DSP and Lander are excellent third liners that can hit and have excellent cap hits. The prime target of this deal obviously for me was Barzal. I take on Vrbata (who is 34) who is starting on the second line tonight on a Vancouver team with no offense, and Sekera who has had only good season in his career. Both come with high cap hits, so for me to take them came at a price, and that price was Barzal.
